Stupid idea. When she finds out she needs a nice dress to get into a restaurant, she will end up spending 2 or 3 times the money….and wasting your vacation time shopping. If you are limited on space, bring a simple dress that can do double-duty as a walk-around-siteseeing dress and can be dressed up with things like jewelry and scarves and a pair of dressy shoes for evening. I’ve done this when I only had a few days in Barcelona and knew that my connecting flight would was too close for my luggage to make the connection from one plane to another. I barely made it myself! —Also, I always bring a bathing suit. Takes no space and even if there is no swimming, there might be a hotel pool or spa/sauna where you might want it. -————-Remember, that in some countries (like Italy), you must be decently covered to get into some churches. No short-shorts, mini skirts, bare midriffs and I believe (but don’t quote me), sleeveless shirts/dresses (have a sweater with you).

You can still dress appropriately without taking too many clothes.
