The short words are easier.

All you have to do is break it down into shorter words to understand the gist. They just string single words together with sometimes an adjoining letter. My (German) husband says that Germans don’t make up new words. There are perfectly good words that already exist. Just put them together. That said, in this case this is not a real word and just stuff strung together to make a point. (I checked with my in-house expert). LOL

And English is a part of the German language group.

Using the free translator part of Bablefish, and getting limited access, I get the impression that this may be the name of a street that honours the captain of some boat.

I vacationed in Europe a few years ago, spending a few days in New York first. I was in probably 10 cabs in New York, and the first English speaking cab driver I ran into was in Sweden.

I was taking a taxi to the airport in New York years ago. The cab driver was a joker. He said that in order to make it in time, watch him slide through a few corners. That was worth a nice tip.

The worst is scientific German. By the time you get to the second or third word in the sentence, you’ve forgotten the first word.

Americans have trouble with German because the word order places the verb at the end. Mark Twain once said he couldn’t get through a German trilogy because all the verbs were in the third book.
