…Or Washington State. You need a strong box for holding books. A cerial box is too light.

By the way, what’s the book in the first three panels? It’s probably “Scratch Guitar,” or possibly “Scratch Golfer.”

ArthurAllen: I expanded the image (click on it) and it’s apparently “Scratch Golfer”. Makes sense.

    Or the big egg boxes.

Love the two panels where he’s in the street. The fall colors are nice.

Actually, Night-Gaunt, “vodka” is the diminutive of Russian “voda” (water), so the translation is “little water”. To paraphrase Mae West, purity had nothing to do with it.

If someone develops a debilitating habit from a sip of communion wine once or twice a week, they probably have some other serious mental or personality problems already.

My local paper, LV RJ, has a totally different Sunday cartoon for One Big Happy. It is about homework with a word bank of chair, store, park, and horse. The little girl says she sits on a horse (to ride it), she buys food at a park from the carts, plays at the store (while her mother shops, and rides a chair (she loves rockers).

This is the crux of our education and school testing crises!

Ibn: The OBH cartoons on gocomics.com are two-year-old reruns.

I recall there is another site that has the current strips, but I don’t remember my reason for chosing this site over the other. In either case, Ruthie is one of my favorite characters.

Funny really considering that some religions do use wine—true it doesn’t have the stomping power of vodka (which translates as “pure water.”) but its effects are habit forming and debilitating.

Interesting then that, in the US, the ethnic/religious group with the lowest alcoholism rate is Chinese Americans, followed by Jews, and Catholics are lower (slightly) than Protestants… By your argument, both Jews and Catholics should be higher.
