I was going to say that they can’t be that old but say they were 19 in 1958 (which is the last year you could take a trip to Cuba pre-Fidel) and cars by Desoto were produced until 1961 so they’d only be 79 years old.
“Use new White Rain Shampoo tonight /And tomorrow your hair will be sunshine bright!White . . . Rain! White . . . Rain.”
And then there was . . .
“Halo, everybody! Halo!Halo is the shampoo that glorifies your hair!So Halo, everybody, Halo!Halo Shampoo, Halo!”
Or . . .“Oh, baby, baby, there’ll be no more tearsWith Johnson’s Baby Shampoo!”
I find it bordering on miraculous that the three pounds of moosh between my ears can store and retrieve commercial jingles going back 50, 60, maybe even 70 years, and that’s just for the shampoos! Yet we wonder how the Ancient Greeks could possibly have memorized the entire Iliad and Odyssey.
