Fantastic out of control imagery, doesn’t every strip need four chicks in a chorus line sitting on a fence ten feet in the air?

Notice that Mickey is wearing a Shriner’s fez. Does anyone know if Outcault was a Mason?

Thank you for this new series on Gocomics. People don’t realize or remember that Sunday funnies came large because the newspapers printed large, NY Times size and each comic had its own page with 12 panels. The later tabloids which were smaller still gave some strips a full page of their own. Comics today have shrunk terribly from 4 panels daily to 3 and from 12 panels Sundays to 6. This has killed the adventure strip relying on text to forward a story decently and detailed art work. Editor’s favored the short gag strip that doesn’t require much. They think they are saving paper and ink by shrinking the comics but they waste it all on over blown movie ads etc.
