    Interesting to see that even in 1899 there was garbage washing up on the beaches.

    Fantastic these old strips. In a humble way, this strip is also saying something about the separation between “high” (classical, refined) and “low” (unrefined, "realistic) culture. And just look at the “logo.” These reproductions are a real treat.

    smacdon: Not so much insight as memory. I remember the garbage barge that went from New York to Texas and back trying to find some place to take their load. If Texas wouldn’t take it, you know the polluting technology is outmoded!
