BY WAY OF CELEBRATION.Ordinarily, combining the best creations of the greatest comic artists would be about the same thing as putting lions, lambs, cats and dogs into a cage and asking them all to please be quiet. Some of them would be quiet because there would be nothing left of them. Then the survivors would fight it out for the supremacy, and there would be mighty little sleep in the neighborhood. But to-day the Sunday World accomplishes a hitherto impossible feat, made possible only by the joy which the comic artists feel in the increase of the Funny Side to eight pages. They are willing to dwell in harmony here, as you see them, and for this reason we are able to present the greatest comic creations of the last decade, the things that have made you not only laugh once, but watch for them week after week. In them, from the Brownies to the latest invention, you see what you have laughed at for years. That the Sunday World has been responsible for many of them – in fact the great majority – you will admit after you have looked at them. Under the able directorship of Hon. George W. Peck the Funny Side will doubtless furnish you with many more humorous surprises.

Eight pages sounds great; it would be twice as many as my local Sunday comics today. Progress isn’t always progress.

What did the yellow boy’s phrase, “do .. any body” mean? Today, that means, well you know what it means. It must have meant something different then?

This is the only strip where I read the comments. Otherwise I have a user style to suppress them.
