The fine print – Panel 1 – Lucy is saying, “I would like a ride in the air so much.”Panel 2 – Lucy is saying, “I’m going to ask him. Good-bye dear.”Panel 5 – Cap: “Say not good-bye.”Lucy: “Oh! Good-bye, Sofia!”Man on ground: “Hang on, Cap!”
I know that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, but….This is a peculiar —and pretty damn good-comic.The girls look like they are making out. The worker and the captain both looking up the girls skirts. And their reactions:
‘Mon dieu!’ and ’It’s all up now.‘Hmmm… As they embrace….’Ladies you are in danger’And her name is ‘Sophie’. Give me a break.I bet boys of all ages lingered on this comic for a while. We are going to need to investigate; several more examples, please.
It must have been a relief for girls who went flapper, and a disaster for the cloth industry, when women shed those huge hats and billowing ankle-length dresses. And the hair they shed! OMG Hair used to be “a woman’s glory” but now it’s not much shorter than men’s. At least guys don’t wear hats anymore or suit and tie all day, but those are recent changes. Women made quantum leaps.
After the end of WWII, the French fashion designers deliberately went with designs that used as much cloth as they could get away with, so that they could revive the French textile industry as well. (The English working class was not thrilled—rationing had actually made decent clothing affordable for almost everyone.)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a strip layer its panels like this one. Very interesting.
