I like the monarchs, too. Got to witness one make its chrysalis. Watching that makes me wonder how people can not believe in Jesus Christ, God come in flesh.
Love the comments – as always! LOL We have all sorts of butterflies and birds here, as well as deer and bunnies… which attract foxes… the cycles of life on the farmland!
Had this great Milkweed growing and blooming, no water, no care. We all had fun watching the butterflies floating around the area and the plant got covered in lovely yellow and black and white striped caterpillars, they ate all the foliage. Then one day they were all gone. The lizards ate all the caterpillars.Great cycle of life.

Another advantage of Milkweed is that rabbits and deer won’t eat it.

They were common when I lived in NY, but I rarely if ever see them growing in the South.

I have plenty of milkweed in my yard by the waterside, but I haven’t seen a monarch butterfly in a long time. Not sure why. I don’t use insecticides.
