This reminds me of one of my favorite, although minor, scenes in "Lord of the Rings, “Fellowship…”, when Barleyman Butterbur, innkeepr of The Prancing Pony in Bree, leans over the bar and greets Frodo, Same, Merry and Pippin with “Good evening, young sirs…” Such respect shown from a Man to a small Hobbit. In Nate’s case, it’s both friendship and the respect real friendship engenders.
