Classic science fiction premise for time travel — monkey with the past, and every attempt to fix it just creates more monkey business. Okay, squirrel business….

I want to at least hold out for mirror reverse – I can read that if I stand on my head. Hand-set printing set the type left-to-right, upside down, the next line being set above the previous in the composing stick.

Once, back in the dark ages, someone put the carbon paper in backwards and gave me the mirror copy as a joke. I turned it upside down and started reading it out loud at a normal speed. “You can read it” the secretary exclaimed. “Yes, isn’t that why you gave it to me?” Then explained how I got this now-useless talent.

I got that now-useless talent because my brother dared me to read something when it was in front of him across the table.

I’m left-handed too, and have no trouble reading that. Don’t ask me for directions though. I can’t tell my left from my right.
