verne: When humans go extinct, will we got with them? rj: cool whip lite?? rJ: he shoots! RJ: ...only if we don't learn from their mistakes... hammy: he scores! flush!
Yes, “lite” foods substitute processed sugar (usually corn syrup) for fat. This somewhat reduces the calories because an ounce of fat has more calories than an ounce of carbs, but it’s more likely to cause diabetes. And that’s assuming you eat the same amount – often the de-fatted food is less satisfying, so you eat more, and wind up with the same calories in an unhealthier form. (Fat is NOT unhealthy if you recognize when you’ve had enough and stop. It’s eating too much of anything that is unhealthy, and especially it’s eating heavily with little exercise. Our ancestors didn’t drive to the gym – they walked to work, and their work was physical labor, far more exercise than a couple hours at the gy.)
But from the manufacturer’s point of view, highly processed food is win-win: the ingredients probably cost less for ersatz “lite” foods but they can charge more, and their customers eat more. The only downside is if you die and stop buying earlier, but most likely before the stuff kills you, it will make you sick so you have to shell out even more for special diet foods.
You save 5 calories per 2 tbs. Source. Any food with the word “cream” in it should be an infrequent indulgence, and cannot be lightened and still tasty.
The real point here is human extinction: yes Verne, when humans go they will selfishly try to take it all down into the black hole of evolutionary oblivion with them.
No, bugs will survive, and most likely most small animals since they have been around for so long. Humans will be the demise of themselves. (But that is just my opinion.)

Either (a) the CWL hit the toilet handle harder than it could in RL, (b) they have an accomplice offstage, or © the humans have the most amazing automated toilet.
