As a native Texan, I resemble that. Earwig, earwig!! Cover ears and chant, nananananana!! Believe it or not, the elementary school in Grand Prairie, Texas used to have a little skit that was broadcast over the “intercom”, and I helped sing this one time. Apparently I was so bad they never asked me back. Boy have things changed. Bring back Howdy Doody!!
“Allegiance: noun. An undefined word school children are taught to pledge daily to a flag otherwise ignored. The purpose of the pledge is to teach the young that allegiance has a shelf life limited to twenty-four hours.” Thorax in 9 Chickweed Lane, 29 January 2007.
