In about 4 billion years, to be exactly. And either nothing happens at all and both galaxies just pass through each other or both galaxies destroy each other, depending on who is right. If there actually is a black megahole in the center of each galaxy, they could destroy each other or form a new, bigger galaxy.
I watched a “size of the universe” documentary that stated stars are so very far apart (beyond imagination) that two galaxies could literally pass right through one another and no star even come close to “colliding” with another. When we realize that the closest star to us is 4 light years away (and likely totally beyond our gravitational force)… can kind of see that claim as a possibility. Or it may be total poppycock. Can never tell with scientists.

As long as the Twinkies are still good, you’re okay.

I’d like to see a Milky Way collide with a Snickers.

Disney’s attorneys and lobbyists will have made copyright eternal by then. Mickey has to be protected.

Don’t you just love that universal pang of loss? Like a billion years is next week? How about a hundred thousand years from now? Yeah! Still bad!

Sure and in 50 million years one of Mar’s moons will crash into the planet, the other will fling out into space.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to stay awake that late to see it.
