They’re called “self-fulfilling prophecies”, Verne. Like saying to yourself, as you walk along a road toward a light moving in your direction at night, “I don’t know what that light is, but I’ll bet it’s going to hit me.”
Sort of like parents that make outrageous claims about what will happen if you don’t do what they tell you to do. It almost seems they want those things to happen to validate their predictions.
