Hey, if they can pull off the Pach-man’s canon, tape record that for me. I don’t think I need to be there for the live show.

Those don’t sound like anything Pachelbel emitted.

Don’t worry, Verne. We have enough characters as it is, anyways. Sometimes, less is more.

The only way I can make that sequence match the melody of Pachelbel’s Canon is to make one of those toots last two notes. I don’t know; your mileage may vary.

That’s probably because cartoonists usually make them judgmental or just not funny. Would ruin the strip.

Mel Brooks referenced the French “fartist” in Blazing Saddles" more than once, and Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” was “desecrated” by being the main theme in the movie, “Ordinary People” , and a Christmas tune by Mannheim Steamroller called the “Christmas Canon”, which is quite beautiful, by the way.

And through it all, Pachelbel’s “Canon” survives as a wonderful piece of music, and Blazing Saddles" remains an absolutely delightful bit of “sophomoric” humor.

I could have sworn it was in the key of “F”, not “D” …
