Hammy’s kind of like both the Flying Nun and Sally Field.

Some of us aren’t particularly fond of fluffy-tailed tree rats.

Hammy is indeed a favorite cartoon character.

The strip wouldn’t be the same without Hammy.

Without hammy they’d have to rename the strip to something like Under The Drudge.

Sally Field once said that she would like to punch people in the nose when they misquote her Oscars speech after she won for “Places in the Heart.” What she really said was, “I can’t deny the fact that you like me.” Watch your back, Hammy.

Many years ago the lady I was married to had Old English Sheepdogs, they are cute dogs but not the sharpest pencils in the box. We would take them to the park and they would literally bark up the wrong tree at the squirrels. One time while the dogs were busy barking at the wrong tree, a squirrel stopped half way up the right tree and chittered at them as if to say, “Hey dummies, over here!”

I didn’t get the falling cow thing until one of you veterans explained it to me. I still don’t get it.

They’re absolutely right. As long as Hammy is around we don’t need a cow falling on Vern every Friday.
