(The Walt Disney Company, the corporate entity that owns the trademarks and copyrights to all Disney properties, has been lobbying for decades — with some success — to keep those trademarks and copyrights in effect in perpetuity in contravention to U.S. and International trademark laws.)
The Disney Company: “We make money off of Mickey Mouse and adapting public domain fairy tales. We don’t want anyone else making money off of a public domain Mickey Mouse like we do with public domain fairy tales. Here’s a lot of money. Please help us keep Micky Mouse copyrighted.”
