People tend to want reality to be far simpler than it is, and that goes for all views. For example, you have skeptics who think EVERYTHING can be explained as perfectly natural, hoaxes, lies, or mistakes, and on the other hand people who are sure aliens from other planets have been here, are living among us, are responsible for all sorts of historical things. But I know some of the people who have studied UFOs to a large extent agree, while most of the cases are as the skeptics say, there are some that seem to be more or something else, and yet they don’t fit the “alien spacecraft” scenario either.
(sigh) And now I can’t get “hiney birthmark” out of my head…
