If this were October 1950, I’d think that the strip was mostly about Shermy, Patty, and Snoopy, and that they all have Charlie Brown in common, but that he’s mostly there to tie the strip together. It’s also not clear who actually owns Snoopy. He seems to be more a “neighborhood dog” than the pet of anyone specific.
