Robert Benchley was drinking with a couple of other writers, and one of them opined that “Melancholy Baby” was his favorite song, but that it always made him sad. The second writer named his favorite song, and added that he couldn’t keep a dry eye when it was playing. .They turned to Benchley and asked what his favorite was. “Tea for Two,” he said. “Whenever I hear it, I simply POUND ON THE TABLE AND SOB.”
I confess it always reminds me of an ancient magazine strip (I knew it from “Humpty Dumpty”, but it was in “Calling All Kids” before that) called “Twinkle, the Star that Came Down from Heaven”.

It must be a version by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (or just Iz, if you prefer). YouTube search for" IZ Twinkle twinkle" will locate several recordings.
