I don’t have any children, but if a baby has hiccups, you should give it harsh – but not too harsh – pats on the back, right? Or just let nature run its course and they’ll go away on their own?

    I get it. He’s levitating because they’re hicc-ups, not hicc-downs.

Once, when I was about twelve years old, watching TV with my family, I developed a case of hiccups that went on for several minutes. My dad put down the newspaper he had been reading and said, to me, “Mrs. Willis [our next door neighbor] said she saw you when you hammered those nails into her tires.” I was horrified that I was being blamed for something I hadn’t done. Me: “She said WHAT?!” Dad: “How are your hiccups?” They were instantly and truly gone. So the old saw that a good scare will cure them is apparently true.

I hate when little babies have the hiccups. Their chests “collapses” because their bones and still soft and looks so painful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B54XOWaStsc

At least he just bounces. When I get the hiccups, I feel like my throat is going to disappear.

I used to get hiccups a lot as a child…particularly (and oddly enough) when I ate potatoes and bread in the same meal. Haven’t had them for decades. (hiccups, I mean, not potatoes and bread together, which I do eat with no trouble now.)

Years ago I was at work when I got the hiccups. A customer said to me, “Think of the one you love the most.” I had just gotten married and thought about my husband. Hiccups…gone!
