Never had to buy them, my Dad was a comic book freak. We did a lot of trading for new material. They named me after a comic book character. Darn it!

I have a memory like that. Visiting my grandparents, my granddad would give me 50¢ a day. There was a small store about six blocks from their house, so I’d walk down and get a comic book (they had mainly Richie Rich and Archie comics. I’d have enough left over for a candy bar or a soft drink. I’d usually get the RC Cola and walk back to their house, sit on the front porch, and read my comic with a cold drink. I miss that, and I really miss my grandparents.

Never bought penny candy. Always spent my pennies on bubble gum.
