for some really funny stuff read some of Pat McManus books on camping in the back yard amongst other outdoor activity – you can do it Charlie Brown just remember a 20000 lumen flashlight
growing up in RI, I slept outside all summer long every summer from when I was like 7 to 15 in my buddy’s boy scout tent, in between our summer homes that were next to each other…parents left me down there on my own from time I was about 9, all week long and they’d go back to city to work, about 35 miles away…closest payphone was a mile away….my buddy’s mother was there, but I made my own meals, etc….best of times….used an outhouse, had a pump for water, walked to beach every day…we still exchange Christmas cards but i’m in FL now
I tried sleeping in a tent inside once. That ACTUALLY was a scary experience, and I’d already gone camping in a tent outdoors berofre that. Was trying out what was a new tent to me for future camping trips with my scout troop and because my folks were going to be gone, grandma was watching us, and it was the middle of winter, I wasn’t allowed to try setting it up outside. No place to set up stakes for guidelines or the bottom of the tent itself and noting to serve as proper weights. Terrified the tent was going to collapse on me, which it did in the middle of the night. At least it was a tent and the poles were only a few ounces in weight.
