I was playing a game of chess some years ago with a player who was far better (I’m a casual player; he was a chess maniac). He took command of the board early on and was pretty well beating my butt. The one thing I was able to do was to prevent him from castling and at one point even managed to draw his king out. At that point, I put him in check three times in rapid succession. They were nuisance checks, in that he was easily able to counter every time. But then he got lazy or bored or careless, and he left his queen exposed, and I grabbed it. He just looked at me and blinked and said, “I didn’t even see that!” And at that point he just resigned. There was no need for him to do that; he could still easily have beaten me. But he was so shocked at losing his queen so suddenly (and to an inferior player), that he just melted down and quit. I don’t know who was more surprised, him or me.
My older brother when I was holding off his attacks with massive forces with minimal defenders in Risk. He got so frustrated he kicked the board over like this.

Bad winners can sometimes be more obnoxious than bad losers.

Patty needs some anger management – as does Lucy later on. Makes me wonder if Charles Schulz did.

Dang! Maybe you learned a lesson CB not to play checkers with her. I think Patti is a premonition of Lucy.

Patty should play against Lucy , who at some point beats CB 10,000 straight games.

Wow, sore loser and sore winner. Someone shoulda kept Lucy away from her. Alas, that never happened and Patty wore off on Lucy.
