Be patient Charlie Brown. In a little while Lucy will switch to “holding” your football so you can kick it and you’ll wish she still had that baseball glove.
Here is a possibility: Lucy can’t play outfield to save her life, but is excellent infield. BUT, CB as manager, thinking of all the evil she does to him with that football, refuses to put her in the infield as revenge.

So how come when she actually IS a member of Charlie Brown’s team, she can’t catch a ball to save her life?

how long until Lucy absent-mindedly lets a fly ball land a few feet right behind her as she tries to catch it?

Back when Schulz had her be a good baseball player. But classic Lucy can’t play to save her life.

I’m not saying it is the smart move, however.
