Back when my wife and I were filing to be an adoptive family, one of the things we had to do was to be fingerprinted. There’s a whole story about what we went through to do that (hint for prospective adoptive parents: don’t live in an unincorporated neighborhood!), but here’s the part I wanted to get to:
The police officer took my right prints, no problem. Then he went to take my left prints…he went to take my left prints…he went to take my left prints…and then he put the pad down and said, “You play guitar, don’t you?” I said yes and asked how he knew. He said, “You’ve got so much callose on your left fingertips, I can’t get a set of prints!”
After much trying, he finally got some prints he could use.

Who would’ve put fingerprints on your fingers even before the founding of the FBI?

They don’t need those now. They’ve been replaced by social media and smart phone bugging.

Was that the time the finger printing of children in case of kidnapping began? I remember having to do that in grade school.

That’s why the FBI wants to get your fingerprints back.
