People are like used cars: they have different milage, have their quirks, and never know when they are going to break down.

I wonder how they would describe Rosalyn.

It’s a good thing they haven’t had babysitters that sneak into the liquor cabinet.

I’m glad my kids had grandparents living nearby.

You never know what you are going to get from a box of chocolates either.

Wow! Once upon a time, Lucy and Schroeder could have a cordial conversation.

I guess that’s why Winston Groom (“Forrest Gump”) went with a box of chocolates; babysitters were taken. (As Daffy Duck would say, There are legalities involved here… )

I never had baby sitters as a child. If my parents had to go out in the evening, I was responsible for the house and my brother until they came home.

I only babysat for one family (4 kids ranging from 6 months to 6 years) and I was their only babysitter. I started when I was 13 and sat every Friday and Saturday night while the couple were at the races (he, as well as all his brothers, raced stock cars). When I turned 16 and bought my own car, I would stay for an entire week while the parents would go on a vacation. I sat for them until I was 18 when the oldest daughter took over watching her younger sister and brothers. I was paid $5/night. I really loved those kids. I was heartbroken when the youngest died of cancer last year at the age of 53.

Our babysitter taught us how to smoke. She didn’t last long.
