Just so you know, Patty, it takes one hundred million billion trillion pennies to make a million billion trillion dollars. But, hey, one penny is a start.
I found a nickle one time in the central heating vent in the floor of my bedroom. It had a picture of a buffalo on one side. I checked it out online recently, and it’s probably worth a bout twelve dollars.
If I see a penny on the ground, I don’t even bother to pick it up. At my age, I won’t bend over for anything less than a dime. Even then it may take a few seconds to think about it.

Pennies bought something in those days. We don’t have pennies in Canada now.

If I found a lucky penny, I’d toss it across the bay.

I remember the days when it actually was considered lucky to find a penny.

This strip is from the 50s, but even in the 60s, a penny would be enough for a gumball machine.
I still carry around a “wheat” penny from the year of my birth.
