Violet stoops down next to a smiling Snoopy and exclaims, "Snoopy, I think you're just the cutest thing!" Charlie Brown stands afar and lets out a short laugh. <br> <br> She hugs Snoopy and continues, "Ooooo...I could hug you and squeeze you all day long!" Charlie Brown grimaces and mutters, "Good Grief!" <br> <br> He stands next to a smiling Snoopy. He exclaims, "Oh, don't look so smug! Anybody can have a girl hug him and squeeze him!" <br> <br> He sits glumly on the curb and concludes, "Well....almost anybody." <br> <br>

Schulz could easily taken the cover illustration for “Happiness is a Warm Puppy” from frame 2 of this strip, yet chose to show Lucy cuddling with Snoopy instead; which strikes me as odd given that Snoopy’s relationship with Lucy was never particularly friendly; but his relationship with Violet was. Indeed, through much of the 1950’s, Violet was Snoopy’s favorite human; while Lucy constantly feuded with Snoopy from the 1960s onward.
