He reads, "Finally the day came for the rehearsal of Beethoven's new symphony..."<br> <br> He continues as Schroeder puts one hand to his mouth, "One of the soloists complained about the difficulty of her part.."<br> <br> Schroeder puts both hands to his mouth as Charlie Brown continues, "She asked the composer if he would make a few changes.."<br> <br> Charlie Brown flips over as Schroeder screams, "Don't Do It, Beethoven!"<br> <br>

Why does Schroeder need CB to read to him? There the same age I think.

Actually, in the beginning, Charlie Brown was something like three or four years older than Schroeder. Schulz aged Schroeder to be about the same age as Lucy, which is a year or two younger than CB. Schroeder probably doesn’t need to be read to, but possibly they’re just enjoying a book together. No audio books in the 50s, after all.
