    The accordion was apparently invented in 1822, around the years Beethoven wrote the Ninth Symphony, when he was almost completely deaf, and only five years before he died. There is no record he’d ever even seen an accordion, and even if he had, I don’t think he’d have had time to write any music for such a recent invention that he was likely already much too deaf to be able to hear. Bach of course had died by 1750, almost three quarters of a century before the instrument had been invented.
