STRIKE TWO Lucy misses the ball.<BR><BR> STRIKE THREE. She misses again.<BR><BR> Charlie Brown sits on the bench and watches as Lucy stalks up. "Good grief, she struck out again! That's three times so far...I should say something to her...after all, I'm the manager..."<BR><BR> She sits down beside him. Charlie Brown thinks, "But if I say one word, she'll blow sky high...She's so mad now she's ready to bust...I don't dare make a sound..."<BR><BR> "Oh, oh! My throat's getting dry..I've got to clear my throat..." Charlie Brown clutches his throat.<BR><BR> "But if I make just the slightest sound, she'll think I'm going to say something to her..."<BR><BR> "But I've got to clear my throat...I...I...(gulp!) I've got to cough or go, "Ahem" or something..my throat feels so dry...I...I..." Charlie Brown's eyes bulge out with the effort.<BR><BR> Charlie Brown looks very ill.<BR><BR> "Ahem!" Charlie Brown coughs.<BR><BR> "I DIDN'T STRIKE OUT ON PURPOSE!" Lucy yells, sending Charlie Brown somersalting with the force. [PANEL 11]: Charlie Brown lies on the ground and lifts his head. He says, "We managers have a rough life..."<BR><BR>

Charlie Brown should have gotten up to go off someplace in private, to clear his throat. After all, his vision of Lucy exploding at him big time certainly came true.
