Charlie Brown and Linus are walking. Charlie Brown asks, "Do you ever talk with your Dad?" "Sometimes."

"What do you mean?" asks Linus. He walks behind Charlie Brown.

"Have you ever played hearts?" Charlie Brown walks behind Linus. 'You mean the card game?" asks Linus.

Charlie Brown puts his elbows on the wall. He says, "Uh huh...My Dad was telling me how, before he was married, he and his friends used used to play hearts, all the time..."

Linus stands beside Charlie Brown and looks at him. Charlie Brown props his chin in his hand and continues: "He said they used to go over to this one friend's house whose mother always baked hot rolls or biscuits or homemade bread or something..."

"She used to play hearts with them, too, because she loved the game... They played around the dining room table, and because there were always about twelve of them playing, they had to use two decks of cards..."

They look at each other. Linus interjects, "That meant there would be two Queens of Spades.." "Right, and the whole idea of the game is to slip someone the black queen."

"Well, on this one particular night, my Dad said he gave the mother both black queens on the same hand..that was twenty-six points against her..." Charlie Brown raises his arms.

"Everybody laughed so hard they got hysterical, but she still gave them hot rolls and bread... And now, when he thinks about it, my Dad says it makes him feel kind of sad...And that was ten years ago..."

Linus turns away. "Your Dad is very sensitive, Charlie Brown..wish him a Happy Father's Day for me." "Thank you..I'll do that.." Charlie Brown sighs. "..Twenty six points, and she still gave them hot rolls!"
