Sally walks along beside Linus, who is holding a football. The latter says,"Okay, this is what we'll do..."<BR><BR> He turns to her and continues,"You go down to the end of the field, and I'll kick the ball to you." She says,"I'll be all alone down there..."<BR><BR> He shows her the ball and exclaims,"You won't be alone...the ball will be with you!" She asks,"What if it doesn't show up?"<BR><BR> He says,"It'll be there...I'm going to kick it to you." She looks to where he is pointing and asks,"What if I go all the way down there, and I get mugged?"<BR><BR> He replies,"How can you get mugged? We're the only ones around here!" She says,"That's what you say!"<BR><BR> She asks,"Another thing....so I walk all the way down there...how do I know you won't run off and leave me?" He walks off exclaiming,"Okay, forget it!" She says,"No, that's all right...I'll do it."<BR><BR> He watches as she walks off concluding,"My mother warned me that football was a risky game."<BR><BR>

Boy, Schulz sure mentions getting mugged a lot. Did he think it was funny or what?

Perhaps mugging was front age news in those early days of the Carter Administration and he was trying to make his readers aware of certain dangers which could come about.
