    Watching TV has not at all affected the necessity of reading. It may far outpace reading as a form of entertainment, but reading will always be necessary in every day life (such as road signs) and even while watching TV (if you don’t think so, try watching TV with a young child that hasn’t learned to read yet and see how many times you get asked what something says).

    Calculators definitely take the burden of calculating off of us (and doing it faster), but they don’t tell how to apply it.

    Word processors can absolutely replace writing…I hate writing. Although, some modern word processors actually process writing instead of typing (with touch screens), so it won’t be getting rid of it completely.
