Can’t a smart fellow like yourself, Linus,EVER take a HINT? Lydia’s constantly “changing her name”every day, is simply her way,of trying to tell you, that she’s NOT INTERESTED,in you!!! Still another FINE EXAMPLE,of “unrequited love,”in Peanuts, as with SALLY’S buddying up to Linus,in fact, Lucy’s buddying up to Schroeder, or even Charlie Brown, with the little-red haired girl(in which case,as all Peanuts fans know, Charlie simply could never bring himself, to even so much as go near Heather(the little red-haired girl’s name.) Yes, Schulz did have some GREAT EXAMPLES,of unrequited love.

It was always great, the way Lydia claimed to have a different name, each day(Today my name is Sheila, today my name is Pamela, today my name is Ingrid, etc.),but apparently, poor Linus could NEVER take the hint, that she simply wanted NOTHING to do with him.

Perhaps she doesn’t like her actual name so she’s trying out different names to see what “fits” her. Perhaps she’s mentally ill. Perhaps she’s a fictional character from the mind of Charles Schulz, who thought this would be funny.
