This strip is just one example of why Schulz was such a pointillist master of subtle rhythm and texture in a strip. Charlie Brown DOES succeed and at the most important things like friendship. Without that dimension, he would be a far less compelling comic strip character.
This is one of Charlie Brown’s first truly happy moments. So much of the earlier strip was the other kids just being cruel to him for no reason while he pined for friendship. This series of strips was really the first time someone liked him for his good qualities: intelligence and compassion. Schulz himself had finally worked out some of his own childhood problems. .

I’m glad to see even Charlie Brown has a moment of happiness. Even if it is just for a moment.

Roy would next appear in Summer 1966 when Linus goes to Summer Camp, then weeks later Roy appears with the first Peppermint Patty appearance.

Glad you enjoyed the song.
I am GUESSING that will take about 4 or 5 hours from the east coast of England to the west coast. I don’t have a car so I wouldn’t really know.
But that’s my guess. I hoped I helped a little.
You take care… Still love your comments!

It seems that Charlie Brown should be a camp counselor.
