Incidentally, I saved the comics page from the day after Schultz died, where pretty much every other comic strip was a Peanuts tribute. A lot of footballs laying in empty fields that day…

I’d wager that yes, Charles Schultz did meet Willie Mays as his hometown, Santa Rosa, CA is just north of San Francisco where Mays played and still makes frequent appearances at games.

Neither his bio nor his Wikipedia page mention anything about Carmel. He was born in Minneapolis and raised in St. Paul, MN.Hank Ketcham, creator of Dennis the Menace, on the other hand, though born in Seattle, WA, settled in Carmel, CA, after WWII.I think you have the two confused.

All of those on the ground knowing that Charles Schulz is looking down and this is his way of saying that tomorrow will be a brighter day and that everything is going to be alright.Rest in peace, Mr. Schulz.

My favorite comic strip AND my favorite baseball player! It doesn’t get any better than this!!!

I was runner up in my school’s spelling bee in 8th grade. My downfall was “orchestrate”. Darn our New England accent!!!

I’m wondering why I never entered any spelling bees. I think it’s because I knew, even then, that my memory for alphanumeric character strings is truly treacherous.

A double tribute to the greatest cartoonist (among many really good ones) and the greatest baseball player of all time (ditto).

I bet CB would have spelled “Schlabotnik” correctly.
