I am confused on the schooling system of Peanuts. In theory Linus is Charlie Brown’s sister’s age, right? Why is he in the same class as everyone else?
I seem to remember a time when Linus was not in school, climbing the fence demanding to be educated…and falling off the fence. I do not think it was Rerun.
Just look at the way in which Charlie Brown’s cap is positioned on his head — he’s wearing it on the very tip of his crown, far above his ear, and it looks quite amusing! :)
This is why I loved this strip so much. I found that really funny as a kid, as I do now. As for age, all the characters were much younger at first. When Sally was added (as a baby, of course) she doted on Linus. Schulz had her grow up a bit but she is still a few years behind Linus and the rest. I’d say she stopped around 3rd grade while the rest of the cast that aren’t obviously of another age (like Rerun) strike me as 5th graders. No way to know for sure, I suppose, but it seems to fit.
As a long-time (we’re talkin’ decades) fan of PEANUTS strip, I have noted an almost complete absence of any appearance by (or reference to) adults, parents or otherwise, in this strip… which makes this week’s edition somewhat historically important. Wow. B-/

True statement, greatest generation was not so great at parenting.

Bad that the actual generation is worst than the past ones.

I thought the other “notes” in Linus’s lunch bag, turned out to be fortunes from fortune cookies?

Let’s see Linus should be about 5 years old in about 55 now so that would be her great-grandchildren she has dumped on.

Violet Gray was portrayed as a year older than CB if I remember correctly. Might have been early on.
