Schulz was ahead of his time, yet again. Lucy, if you don’t want people touching your stuff, don’t offer the bag next time. Grow up. It’s not all about you. If you knew how many people had touched those loose lemon drops in the Brach’s cart before you even got there, you’d never have bought them in the first place. EVERYTHING around you has already been touched, repeatedly. Even if you retreated into a plastic bubble, someone else would have constructed it for you—and touched it!

I like lemon drops, but not enough to take a chance irritating someone like Lucy. When someone like that offers me something, I politely say no thanks. Of course, even that sometimes pisses that kind of person off.

Knowing Lucy like we all do, I can just imagine what went on before this little incident in the perpetual “Sibling Wars.” (Parental wawa’s translated.)

Mom: Now you share those lemon drops with your little brother.Lucy (thoughts, before offering Linus a single lemon drop – any older sibling’s idea of sharing): I’m offering to share these lemon drops with you but if you know what’s good for you, you’d better not take any.)(Incident depicted, followed by this aftermath.)Lucy: Mom!!!!! Now that I think about it, too many lemon drops make the roof of my mouth sore.

It’s not about “germs.” He’s a little boy; she’s his older sister. She KNOWS where those fingers have been. She might have anticipated Linus shoving his hand wrist-deep into them and thrashing his boogerclaws around, but I don’t fault her this time.

I hate when my family members do that with my chips.
