Who starts chain letters?

Didn’t the original “chain letters” have something to do with sending money to those six friends and they would send money to you? Those are illegal.

What always gets to me about the chain letters or emails is the description that is included in the text about how it has gone around the world 6 times already and helped bring good luck to sooooo many people. I always wondered how they knew this when the letter was written.

I used to like getting them but then I had a change of heart.xxx

If you send out 6 chain letters to friends now, it will cost you almost $3.

I would compare receiving a chain letter to those braggy Christmas news letters you get at holiday time from people you hate.
