How did he get back in there? Didn’t the teacher just ask him to leave yesterday?

Yes, but did the teacher make the Class Constitution powerless because they didn’t approve of it, and thus making the position of Class President pretty much even less of a figurehead?

And again, some right wing nut manages to start a political debate over a perfectly harmless, apolitical comic.

Linus makes his own ill-fated foray into grade school politics a few years after this strip. . .

Snoopy would be a massive step up from anyone who’s running, whether from the corporate left to the corporate right.—

Just think of what Romney did to his dog, Seamus, and spoke of it proudly! Had he been president then, Snoopy would have gotten his special ops team together (Olaf, Spike, Belle, and company, including the WWI Flying Ace) (aka “Not the Seals” but the “Dog Team”) and launched an immediate rescue mission and liberated Seamus from captivity!—

But, really, I agree, politics is out of place here…and irrelevant to this strip.—

Instead, this is Snoopy coming right back into school confidently, much as George did after being fired from a job on Seinfeld—just pretend it didn’t happen! After all, he wants to work towards his master’s! Love the grin!

And Snoopy was voted in for class president in 1990, when Pig-Pen was himself campaigning to be class president and had a photograph taken of himself and Snoopy. “Nobody voted for me”, he later complained to Linus, “they all voted for the dog!”

Snoopy fooled the teacher by sitting in a different seat.

A dog would be much better in that position, just think of the harm that would not be done.

Traditionally, class presidents are extremely annoying types, whereas Snoopy is a big bundle of cuteness (with a few issues regarding the difference between fantasy and reality……..)
