Colorado Springs, Colorado was indeed the Worlds in ‘69. Soviets dominated pairs figure skating that year, winning all three medals. Probably because they didn’t have to face the winning pair of Snoopy and Peppermint Patty. Tim Wood, Judy Schwomeyer, and James Sladky were the only American figure skaters that year to walk away with any medals, gold in the Men’s competition for Wood and bronze in Ice Dancing for Schwomeyer and Sladky. Soviets also took the Ice Dancing silver.

If Snoopy’s feet get wet, will he freeze to the ice?

I didn’t even notice Snoopy was using his bare paws to skate.

I always like “Peppermint” Patty the most as a kid. She was tomboyish, but most definitely a girl. She played baseball well (better than most of the boys), “Indian” wrestled, bucked authority by wearing sandals to school, lived in a single-parent family (her dad’s “rare gem”), thought Snoopy was a funny looking kid with a big nose, and quite clearly had a crush on “Chuck” though he was oblivious because he was busy pining over a girl he couldn’t even talk to. Though Patty’s personality could be overbearing at times, she usually meant well and was generally positive about things. She also tried her hardest at anything she did, even if she didn’t do well (except for school, maybe). And here she is skating gracefully with Snoopy while wearing a pink skirt. I really loved seeing this animated in “She’s a Good Skate, Charlie Brown!”

Actually I didn’t forget. The Wikipedia article on World Figure Skating Championships doesn’t mention anything about that when listing the medals, or in the article itself. And a honorary salute would not have been given to her at the ‘69 World Figure Skating Championship following her passing since she passed away after the championship, just over seven months later in fact. I have absolutely no reason to doubt you’re right about the salute, most likely for ‘27 through ’36 golds (she did silver in ’26). But it doesn’t mention that. And today’s strip has Snoopy talking about competing in the ’69 World Championship so I was only looking at.

I recorded the audio of the moon landing. It’s in a box in that closet over there.
