Actually, I check my email every couple of minutes. That was before they had this alert feature.

He should really find out his mailman’s regular routine. It will save him a lot of time!

It’s sad, though, how the tradition of Christmas cards has really disappeared. Every year I receive less and less in return to the amount I send out. I guess social media has played a part in this….when people can stay connected via Facebook and Instagram, they don’t feel the need to send cards. But I’m fairly old and traditional. I love cards…and I love displaying them in my house as part of Christmas decorations. --I remember my mother back in the 50s and 60s sending over 200 cards out and getting that many back! I don’t even KNOW that many people I would send cards to. I am still in awe of that, 60+ years later.

Nowadays Charlie Brown would have to watch out for porch pirates.

The era this occurs in vanished years ago… now, around this time of year, I get nothing but packages every day… except I’m buying them, not someone else. And, I’m sure there are a lot of people who DO check every 5 minutes, except it’s on the tracking website/app to see where it is now… :-P

Now with USPS “Informed Delivery”, it saves me the hassle of that worry, though in Charlie Brown’s case it would just remind him that nothing is coming for him…

These days, you get a text that details the path of your package, but only if you ordered it.

When this strip was drawn we got twice a day mail delivery during the holidays, a first-class postage stamp cost three cents, and if you tuckedthe flap of a greeting card envelope on the inside instead of licking and sealing it you could use a two-cent stamp. Ah, the good old days!

    When I was a kid in the 60s we’d get it twice a day…

We don’t have that kind of mailbox in Iceland, so I don’t know exactly how it works, but isn’t that what the flag is for – to let you know when you have mail?

Why is the flag on the mailbox upside down?

I think I know why the mailman isn’t leaving any packages in there…

No wonder that no Christmas package was sent. Snoopy’s head has to scare everybody.
