Johnny Horizon?

I don’t remember that “mascot” at all. Smoky Bear and the weeping Indian, yes.

Don’t feel too bad, Peppermint Patty. It COULD’VE been Bill Nye.

And this was the 70’s/80’s…can you imagine what Patty would be going through with all the “recycle” and “global warming/climate change” stuff going on today?

I just remember an owl saying, “Give a hoot, don’t pollute”.

Whatever happened to Patty being told to dress more conservatively?

I remember Johnny Appleseed, Johnny Tremain, Johnny B. Goode, and Johnny Horton (heading “North to Alaska”). But Johnny Horizon? Did he perhaps escort Miss Helen Sweetstory to her high school prom?

Ok, it’s apparently cool enough in today’s comic that they’re both wearing long sleeves, and Franklin has what appears to be a jacket. Sandals, Patty??

I had to look up Johnny Horizon on Wikipedia. No, I don’t remember him at all.

Not sure Franklin needs all those stripes on his face to accentuate the fact he’s black.

Man, I love it when the comics make me research something! :)
