Say it with me, Marcie: “What part of ‘NO’ don’t you understand, SIR?”

“Why don’t you just trot out there on your little Billie Jean King legs…” sounds like something uttered by a squat ex-professional wrestler with a stogie in his mouth…or Bobby Riggs.

“Play Me, Trade Me, Forget Me…Who Cares?”

Looks like Marcie’s got a guaranteed contract.

I really don’t see why the author thinks that “sir” so funny to use for months in this comic.

Better get used to the “Sir”. For Marcie will be the only person who will use it when addressing you.

Marcie will never sing, “Put me in, coach. I’m ready to play today.”

Peppermint Patty was my parents, and I was Marcie. They didn’t listen to me either. The biggest differences were I’m a male, and I didn’t have Marcie’s “skill”.

    It wasn’t pretty.

Patty is about as sharp as a bowling ball.

These strips where somewhere gets their clothes/shoes knocked off the by the ball reminds me of the scene from “Three Little Words” where Harry (played by Red Skelton) is practicing baseball with his pro buddies and gets the glove knocked clear off his hand by the ball. There’s also a moment where he gets bonked on the head exactly like Lucy always does while trying to catch a fly ball. (Honestly, both of the baseball scenes from that movie could be billed as “actual footage of Charlie Brown’s team playing baseball.”)

Why does it happen, that when you hate something, you seem to do well at it? Still hate it though.

My son once through it from deep centerfield to the catcher at home plate. Think he was about at the time. Also tagged runner at home as catcher and lifted the runner up off the baseline and sat him down a foot to the left. Amazed me.

Marcie is a brilliant character. I’ve always felt that it was a shame that Schulz never used her without Peppermint Patty. She should have appeared in strips and story arcs on her own and with other characters apart from Peppermint Patty, in the same way that all the other kids in the strip did. What do readers think?

She’d be better pitcher material…. if she wanted to play.

And Peppermint Patty just made it clear she’s a sore looser. “Winning is everything and losing is nothing.” Yeah right, give me a break. Winning feels great, absolutely no doubt about that. But it’s not everything. And losing is certainly something. Not always something good (very, very rarely anything good unless the prize when you win is actually worse than losing), but it’s something..

The “winning is everything” mentality is quite unfortunate. More emphasis should be placed on having fun and less on winning.
