Now that it is over. I seriously hope nobody opt to reboot for the series. If so, may God have mercy on his/her soul.

It’s just a trend. It won’t last long. And someday the kids of my generation will marvel at how stupid everything in the 2000s and 2010s were.
eddie6192 about 12 years ago
If they do, they won’t blame “O”. They’ll blame “W”.

Always wonder how those vampires get their hair coiffed and makeup on…they can’t see their reflection in a mirror, so….just wondering.

Cheer up Goat. Someday in the future people will check out the paranormal romance section after watching their epic Smurf movie and say…. Were those guys nuts?

Over the summer I took my 13 year old son to the library. He led me to the “Teen” section (which was mostly Buffy and Twilight knockoffs, as well as non-paranormal high school girl stuff) and told me, “This is why I don’t want to come here.” The librarian said that “That’s what’s popular now.”
No wonder teenaged boys don’t read much.

I feel the same way. Goat, I feel your pain, brother

twilight…shiny vampires…anyone seen all the movies yet?
hayscd about 12 years ago
In defense of vampires, fiction is just another lens for looking at the things that interest and motivate us. The undead are a convenient vehicle for examining love, lust, evil, contemporary society and — especially for YA readers — the sense of not belonging and having hidden powers. And no matter the subject, reading is a good use of the mind, especially compared to watching reality TV or playing Xbox; it triggers creative thinking much in the same way reading comic strips about talking animals does — maybe even a bit more. Plus, vampires kill the crap out of people.

Love the library! Read It, Read It, Read It. Ha!, Sorry.

BTW, my twelve-year-old granddaugher was reading one of the Erin Hunter books, like Warriors: Cats of the Clans. Since we were adrift in a van in the parking lot,I read part of it to the six-year-old as part of her homework assignment. Sheesh. :-P

Well, it was started by a Mormon writer. I guess it makes it an early warning system.

Gotta love British humor.
hitman4cookies about 12 years ago
Looks like I’m not the only one with no use for “Twilight”.
Havelock_Vetinari about 12 years ago
My only consolation is that Twilight will probably not withstand the test of time. The books that do are often of the very highest quality. Case in point: Lord of the Rings.
aurorawanderer almost 12 years ago
This was my same thought when I first saw that section in a bookstore.

We were and still are reaching levels of idiocy that shouldn’t be possible.
