That’s why caller ID is a nice option; but then again, that appears to be an old-fashioned rotary phone.

As much I as grew up with landline phones and own an iPhone, I am at times surprised to be given landline phones to the donation trailer at which I work.

I let my answering machine pick up because of telemarketers, and if a voice starts talking that I know I run for it.

Nothing wrong with having a landline.

Cellular networks are so bad where I live, that landline phones almost seem to be a Godsend at times.

Mom? Oops!

They keep trashing land lines, but they’re the most reliable, particularly in a storm. I’ll never give mine up until they force me.

Not only a landline, a rotary dial. Not sure where you can get one anymore.

Always use landline for talking business, don’t like having a conversation that goes in and out. Coverage is just to spotty even though there seem to be towers everywhere :-O…….Croc Power !

With Florence lurking off the coast of Wilmington, NC, I am glad to still have a landline. Steph, could you send Guard Duck to the area in the path of the storm to help? He might be needed more in SC. Seriously, please pray for everyone in the path of the storm.

Does this remind anyone of the time Jon Arbuckle told a “wrong number” that she had a sexy voice, thinking he could get a date, only to have it be his mother?

I still have a landline, as part of the internet service. I’ll never get anything from our evil cable provider. The landline is handy for when I need service for my broken smartphone.

1. cell service in my house is the pits. 2. I use my fax all of the time and can’t do that with a cell. 3. it doesn’t cost me anything to ignore robocalls but usage per minute for my cell is charged. When I’m on hold for the vet or anyone, those minutes add up on a cell phone. Even tho maybe 10 people have my cell number, the telemarketers and politicians seem to have it. 3. My landline never dies from lack of being charged. Because I rarely use my cell, the battery gets low even though the darn thing is turned off 90% of the time. 4. I agree with ermineNotyours – I need the landline when the smartphone won’t work.

And a rotary none the least. I wonder if Jon Arbuckle gave them that phone

Would love to have a fax, but when I did there were so many spam faxes, mostly from a travel site in Florida, that I removed it. Having the telephone ring at all hours of the night and morning was not tolerable. Complaining to the phone company and the government about the site was useless.

I still have one too. It’s great to have it you lose power during a hurricane for days and your cell phone is dead.

I have a land line for exactly that reason. I don’t even hear it ring. Unless someone leaves a message all I do is erase the call #s periodically.

I’m pretty sure there’s no one left that still has our old landline number; we’ve only been getting voicemails emailed to us for the past few years, first from the VoIP outfit we switched it to around ten years ago, and now from a number-parking service that let me put the “this number is disconnected” tone at the start of the greeting message. A lot fewer voicemails since I did that.

I have both a landline & a smart phone. I actually prefer using the landline when I’m at home.

Well, if it’s any consolation, Rat, I doubt if your mom will be calling again—at least for a long time….
