If you don’t set your sights too high, life is less disappointing. Watching my two great grandchildren growing up has been a complete justification for my existence.
Since most of our adult lives are spent working and raising families, sometimes those “places you’ll go” have to wait until you retire. And then you gotta hope you have the health and finances to go anywhere.
The price of bacon in China is rising. Their pigs are being decimated. https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2019/08/15/751090633/swine-fever-is-killing-vast-numbers-of-pigs-in-china
Depends on the the type of family environment you grew up in. Not everyone’s childhood was fortunate. As for me I had a very blessed childhood. I miss being five
Some aspects of life are excellent at that age: No added cost housing, meals, health care, clothing and toys, and plenty of sleep. On the other hand, no choices on anything that matters, no elections, and you cannot vote w/ your feet. On the 3rd hand, mostly you don’t even notice that there are no choices because, hey, you’re five!
Long serious comment warning. Please skip if you dislike rhapsodizing on comic strips.
Work: I help people protect their assets, provide for their loved ones, and plan for long-term financial security. I work in a safe, climate-controlled environment where I can use my talents and skills. It is not fun, but it is challenging, stable, and profitable.
Home: A haven in a sea of troubles. Shelter, protection, permanence. At times, excruciatingly lonely, but nevertheless always safe.
Bed: God’s design for Man’s physical, mental, and emotional renewal continues to baffle and elude us. I struggle with sleep but am learning to prioritize it.
Everyone should have these and better. Not everyone has even what I am blessed with.
But you know what, Pig? These places can be pretty good, even great, places to go.

Pig, consider yourself lucky to make it past five; most pigs are slaughtered before they reach one.
